Fitzwilliam Darcy, a surprisingly soft and intoxicating champagne-filled centre, smothered in luxurious dark chocolate, intense and wonderfully satisfying. Warning: even more potent when dipped in water à la Colin Firth.
Mr Darcy was unavailable for comment, but close relative Lady Catherine de Bourgh gave the following exclusive interview to our reporter, before batting him on the head with her umbrella: ‘So my nephew’s a chocolate now, is he! Are the shades of Pemberley to be thus polluted?’
JA adds: ‘It is a truth universally acknowledged that any attempt to update Pride & Prejudice requires nerves of steel and the word “Darcy” in the title. Discovering Darcy is my preferred title - especially as it applies as much to the man himself (”I hardly knew myself”) as it does to Lizzy.
‘And the nerves of steel? Well, I’m taking Lady Catherine as my role model and keeping well away from Mrs Bennet!’
