Juliet was born and bred in North-East England and now lives in Hertfordshire, Pride & Prejudice country.
Unlike Anne Elliot in Persuasion, she resisted well-meant advice and married young, before graduating from the University of Nottingham with a First in French and Russian. Many years later, with grown-up but unmarried children, she wonders if she is turning into Mrs Bennet!
She gives talks all over the UK, and in the USA, about why and how she is updating classic romance. She is a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association and chairs the London and South-East chapter. She is also a member of the Society of Authors, the Jane Austen Society and the Australian Romance Readers Association. Her non-writing career has spanned IT, acquisitions analysis, copy editing, marketing and currently project management, providing plenty of first-hand research for her novels.
Although Juliet's favourite Austen novel is whichever one she's busy updating, her favourite Austen hero has always been Darcy. That's why her series of Jane Austen modernisations, Darcy & Friends, is set in a world where the other heroes all have connections with Darcy.
Two down, four to go: Juliet has updated Emma and Persuasion and is currently working on Pride & Prejudice.
